About

I'm Pippa and I've been following a gluten free and low FODMAP diet since 2011
In 2011, having heard whispers of the FODMAP diet on the internet, I wanted to learn more. Google brought a disappointing series of results. So I e-mailed the place responsible for developing the diet: Monash University, all the way in sunny Australia. The FODMAP diet was relatively unknown in the UK back then, but as luck would have it, one of their Research Dietitians had moved to the UK to introduce the diet to the UK. And as they say the rest is history...

Well not quite.

When my Dietitian first revealed the FODMAP rules, I was, well, stumped! FODMAPs are in a lot of stuff. We live in a FODMAP filled society, very little is safe.

And the internet remained somewhat blank. Yes it could tell you what FODMAP stood for, give you statistics on how many patients it helped, but there was nothing in response to the personal answers I sought.
"What can I have for lunch?"
"How do I adapt my favorite recipes?"
"Will I ever be able to eat out again?!!"

The very internet that had allowed me to connect with the other side of the world and provide me with the vital FODMAP introduction, had failed me.

So in 2012, having mastered my revised shopping, cooking and eating habits, FODMAP Free was born. The aim? To share.

Fast forward to 2014 and the low FODMAP diet has gone big time. A simple Google search now provides you with a plethora of information. Articles, blogs and even an app! Long gone are the days where you had to email the other side of the world for 'more information'! The low FODMAP diet has finally been catapulting  to stardom and about time too!

But my FODMAP Free blog remains the same, there's now just more people to join in the fun! So wave FODMAPs goodbye and welcome into your life food that likes you, as much as you like it.
